The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has urged prospective corps members to embrace their service posting places positively and avoid seeking to relocate.
Naija News reports that the Director-General of the service, Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, encouraged them to promptly engage in the processes of nation-building and development within their assigned communities.
Ahmed made these remarks during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course, held at the Magaji Dan Yamusa NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Keffi, Nasarawa State, on Tuesday.
A press release from the NYSC’s acting director of information and public relations, Caroline Embu, indicated that the Director-General also cautioned Corps Members against participating in any risky activities that could jeopardize their safety.
“Accept your postings in good faith and resist the temptation to seek reposting. Begin to make a meaningful impact as you have been trained to do.
“Focus on making positive contributions in your host communities and serve as exemplary ambassadors of your families, the NYSC and the nation at large,” the DG was quoted as saying.
He stated that the significant contributions made by the Corps Members to the advancement of their host communities would ensure the ongoing importance of the NYSC Scheme.
In expressing his commitment to the security and welfare of the Corps Members, the NYSC director-general urged them to take personal responsibility for their safety by following essential security protocols.
