Bello Turji: Minister Orders Chief Of Defence Staff, Other Military Heads To Relocate To Sokoto

Leader of the recently surfaced terrorist group Lakurawa, Ameer Habib Tajje, has delivered a direct warning to notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, demanding he abandon his criminal activities.

According to a statement by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, Tajje is mobilizing a powerful delegation to confront Turji and pressure him to step away from his violent actions.

Makama stated, “In a strange turn of events, Ameer Habib Tajje, the influential leader of the Lakurawa group in the northwestern region of Sokoto, is reportedly preparing to send a powerful delegation to bandit leader Bello Turji, demanding his complete renouncement of criminal activities.”

Turji, known for his longstanding involvement in kidnappings and imposing levies on farmers in Nigeria’s North-West, has been a high-priority target for security agencies due to his continuous disruptions and threats to local communities.

Lakurawa, a newly formed jihadist group, has recently resurfaced with violent attacks, including the reported killing of 15 people in Kebbi in November.

The group, which operates across Kebbi and Sokoto states, also began enforcing taxes on communities in Sokoto as of November 6, 2024.

Meanwhile, Human rights activist, Audu Bulama Bukarti has raised alarm over the activities of a newly identified terror group, Lakurawa, which he claims has assumed the role of traditional rulers in some communities in Kebbi State.

According to Bukarti, the group has taken over key local functions, acting as mediators and arbitrators among residents.
