Ruben Amorim was given a warm welcome on Monday as he assumed his position as the head coach at Manchester United.
The confirmation of Amorim’s arrival was made through a statement on the club’s official website titled “Ruben Amorim Arrives at Carrington.”
As noted in the statement, Amorim was met outside the men’s first-team facility with an embrace from chief executive Omar Berrada, and he also received greetings from sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox, along with several accompanying images.
In another welcome post, the club wrote on X on Monday, “It’s not just Carrington. It’s home. A warm welcome for Ruben Amorim at our training ground.”
Naija News reports that Amorim will meet key staff members in preparation to start work once his visa is obtained.
“Our new boss has 13 days to prepare for his first game in charge of the first team—our Premier League fixture away to Ipswich Town on Sunday 24 November (16:30 GMT),” the statement read.
Recall that Amorim’s appointment comes after the Red Devils sacked its former coach Erik Ten Hag.
The 39-year-old Portuguese coach, who won two Primeira Liga titles with Sporting Lisbon, signed a deal until 2027 and officially joined the Premier League club on 11 November 2024.
Meanwhile, Manchester United confirmed the departure of four first-team coaches on X.
The club stated, “Four first-team coaches have departed the club with our best wishes for the future. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to our club.”
“Ruud van Nistelrooy and three first-team coaches have departed the club with our best wishes for the future. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to United.”
Manchester United concluded Van Nistelrooy’s temporary stint in charge with a 3-0 win over Leicester on Sunday.
“We are grateful for his contribution and the way in which he has approached his role throughout his time with the club. He will always be very welcome at Old Trafford.
“Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel have also departed and we wish them all well for the future.
“We will confirm the full men’s first team coaching composition in due course,” a statement on the club website read.
