Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has mandated over 7,000 government workers to present their original certificates as a condition for receiving their October salaries.

This directive comes amid rising concerns about certificate scandals within various ministries, boards, and parastatals in the state.

In a statement released on Thursday in Yola by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonisouko, the governor clarified that the aim of the exercise is to instill order within the civil service, not to target any individual.

He emphasized that the requirement applies to all workers in government institutions, ministries, and agencies.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has issued a directive requiring all workers in government institutions, ministries, boards, and agencies to immediately present their certificates.

“This exercise is not intended to witch-hunt anyone but rather to ensure sanity in the system
,” the statement said.

Governor Fintiri added that employees failing to comply with the order will have their October salaries withheld until they submit their certificates.

However, he assured workers that those who provide their documentation by the end of October will not face any salary forfeiture.

The decision stems from concerns over misconduct and exploitation of system loopholes, with Fintiri asserting that the civil service should represent “scholarship and honesty” rather than be a refuge for unqualified individuals.

These issues must be addressed, and the service should be a haven for scholarship and honesty, rather than a haven for misfit,” he added
